Love Knit, Love Knit, Love Knit Contest

I had such a great time in November with a blog-aversary contest that I'm hosting another. It's just in time for Valentine's Day and in anticipation of spring. It's the Love Knit, Love Knit, Love Knit contest.

Post a comment on this post telling everyone what is your favorite yarn, where you can get it and what you knit with it. It is really important to say where you can get it--I'm a yarnie and I love to visit new shops/farms. If you link this to your blog, you get an extra entry. Contest ends 1/31. I'll need a way to get a hold of you so blogless folks, please let me know your email. I'll mail the prizes on my dime (or Dave's) just in time for Valentine's Day.

The winners (there will be two randomly drawn) will receive one of two prizes. One prize is two skeins of Andes (100% wool in color lot 08). Knit recommendation on size needles and 165 yards per skein. It's a blend of purpley heather, cream and yellow. Second prize is two skeins of Mission Falls 1824 cotton (100% cotton in a slate gray--colorway Graphite C105) Each skein is 84 yards of delicious yumminess knit up on receommended size 7.

Please no gross comments or I'll delete your post and sic my kids on you. This would be after I pump them up on sugar and take their toys away.

I'll start--my favorite is anything from Handmaiden or Fleece Artist. http://www.colorsongyarn.com/

The colors are like squirrels to my Collie. I just gotta have it.

My current favorite is Schaefer Yarn's Anne, 100% merino. I got it cheap from ebay, but it's widely available. www.schaeferyarn.stockists.htm
What am I knitting with it? Leggings, modified after EZ's pattern in Knitter's Almanac

How can I pick just one favorite???

My current favorite is a discontinued yarn: Jaeger Matchmaker Merino. Another favorite is Rowan Cashsoft 4ply, which is sort of discontinued as Rowan reformulated this yarn.

The most beautiful new yarn I recently knit with was Duet Sock Yarn from A Swell Yarn Shop (www.aswellyarnshop.com).

My current favorite is Berroco Ultra Alpaca. I'll be honest, I haven't knit a single thing with it yet but I bought a few skeins for the Interweave Tilted Duster and have been shamelessly touching other people's FO's made with it.

My favorite yarn is anything from Artfibers in San Francisco, but particularly Sylph, Kyoto and Alfabeto. Their Tsuki is great sub for Kidsilk Haze. Oh, and Rune, which I don't think is pictured on their site (bulky thick & thin baby alpaca. YUMMY).

http://www.artfibers.com Enjoy!

Ooops, forgot to add what I have made/am making with my fave yarns:

Rune: a garter and dropped-stitch scarf (FO); planning to make Urchin from knitty with it as well.

Sylph: a lace scarf from the 2007 Stitch'n'Bitch Calendar (FO)

Tsuki: The Cap Shawl, from Victorian Lace Today (WIP)

Alfabeto: Clapotis (WIP)

Of all the yarns I have knit with...so far, my favorite is Malabrigo Merino. It's so wonderfully soft and the range of colors is awesome. I still have my shawl I'm knitting with it OTN but it's going to be beautiful some day. lol You can get it at YarnCountry.com
Hugs!

My favorite yarn is still Misti Alpaca laceweight. It's amazing how soft and warm it is. You can get it at most LYS, but I go to mine (Alameda Yarn Company). Knit? Well, that would be a shawl. Oh, wait, I've made 2 shawls with it, swallowtail and Eunny Jang's wave stole.

Just one favorite?
I'd have to say any of the socks that rock, by blue moon fiber arts.
they knit such a nice sock.

Boy it's hard to pick just one, but I have to say that I am LOVING Hand Maiden's Mini Maiden. http://knitty-noddy.com. I am using it for Jeanie.
If I could pick a second, I'd second the Art Fibers nomination. I have some Ming stashed away for *that* very special project I haven't found yet.

I'm going to have to think on this one (you're a sweetie and deserve a well thought out response!) But I must say, I love the Valentine's Day-ish theme. That's my birthday!

I just hit my LYS's huge yarn sale and got 40% off Lorna's Laces Lion & Lamb -- man, that's amazing yarn. I also got Malabrigo laceweight, destined to be a swallowtail shawl, and that's so incredibly soft, too. It's so hard to pick just one favourite!

My current fave is Malabrigo which I get at my LYS, Yarns 2 Ewe (yarns2ewe.com). I usually knit it up into eithere a scarf with double seed stitch casting on about 22 or My So Called Scarf anf I like it because one skein makes a decent scarf.

I am wearing one today in lime and purple. Love it!

I also love Brooks Farm Yarn(brooksfarmyarn.com) in Duet which I used to make a Montego Bay scarf. Yummy.

There's so much great yarn out there, and I guess I have plenty of favorites depending on my mood and what I'm making.

But my favorite all purpose yarn is probably Karabella Aurora 8. I love how it feels both in a ball and once knitted, and it makes an awesome fabric. If I have no other inspirations, its generally by go-to for hats and scarves (plenty of family members have either one or both knitted in Aurora from me). I also knitted up a yummy pair of japanese-style flared legwarmers for a friend with it a year ago.

I've only bought it at one place - School Products in New York City, though I'll be looking for it at my new LYSes once I discover them.

I am a self admitted yarn ho: i love to fondle and knit with so many yarns! Noro kuryeon or silk garden are always welcome and easily knit with in this household..but i also love Artful Yarns supermerino. I think i realy enjoy some of the watercolor blends these yarns offer!

Linked to you!

My current favorite is Tahki Yarns TAOS in colorway 005. Oh these colors. I am knitting rowan's Saffron mini jacket now. It is a big wool Rowan book. You can purchase this yarn at my LYS 3 Bags Full Knitting studio in Northbrook IL.

Add another one to the Malabrigo Merino (worsted) bandwagon. The best price/shipping combo is at either Jimmy Beans Wool or Lambikin's Hideaway (neither carries all the colors, though. If I want a specific color I call Imagiknit in SanFrancisco and they ship it - she literally carries EVERY color!)I have made two drop stitch scarves, Dizzy hat (by berroco) and doubled it up to knit in a hat for Jake. I just bought m first skein of Malbrigo Chunky for another hat. ..we'll see if I like it as much!

My favorite yarn is Blue Sky Alpaca Silk. I'm going to knit a Clapotis. I got mine at the Shabby Sheep in Dallas TX. Ronda and her staff are lovely ladies. Hope you can stop in and see them sometime.

My most often used yarn is Cascade 220, which you can get just about anywhere. But my favorite for color, fondling, and drool factor is Wollmeise, which can be found at
https://shop.strato.de/epages/61425309.sf

YUM!

My favorite yarn is Koigu kpppm, for the colors and the sproing-iness. No one locally carries it and ordering online is risky with the color possibilities. They have a really nice selection of Koigu at Imagiknit in SF. There's a store in Oregon where I saw my first wall 'o koigu but I don't remember the store name.

I also really like malabrigo. Same, no local source issue. I got my malabrigo at Imagiknit too. Good thing I don't get to SF often.

I think I forgot to say what I make with Koigu. SOCKS.

I have not yet been very adventurous with my yarn as I just buy what it stocked in my little LYS but I lurve Rowan Cashsoft. It feels easy on the hands when knitting and gives a full yet soft finish.

I have knitted toys and baby jumpers with it.

I must second the nomination for Berroco Ultra Alpaca. I'm a broke college student, so it's an affordable luxury for me. I get it at my LYS, Loopville, in Knoxville, TN. So far I've made a hat and mittens and love them both to death.

I knit dishcloths so right now I knit with cotton cloth Peaches&Creme/Sugar&Creme. These can be bought at Michael/Hancocks?Hobby Lobby. I do have some Adrienne Vittadini Natasha in Toffee and it also comes in Lavender Blue-which I really like. I want to knit a sweater, shawl or something to wear with it. It is wonderful-you can find it at Rosiesyarncellar.com;knittingsisters.com;woolandwoodworks.com. I believe it is at knittingsisters.com that you can buy a kit for a sweater and two others. It is expensive but when you can get a kit already put to-
gether for you I really like that.

My very favorite yarn is still Mountain Colors Bearfoot. I'm wearing Yukon Leaves socks right now that were knit from that loverly yarn. Waterlily from Elite Yarns is trying to sneak up on it, though, but it doesn't have the yardage to reach...

You can get Mountain Colors yarns at:

Happy Blog-aversary!

Congrats for the occasion... Right now my favorite yarn is Malabrigo Worsted Weight it is smushy... I get mine at my local yarn store Twisted Yarns, but the website http://www.malabrigoyarn.com/ has a button where you can locate a store that sells it (including online). You can make anything with it! It is especially great for hats, scarfs, and mittens. The colors are gorgeous and it is such a pleasure to work with...I'm actually about to make a lapghan from some! I'm also linking this to my blog XD http://fleeceofheroes.wordpress.com

I like handspun... mine, others, it doesn't matter! Of the bought variety, I like Cherry Tree Hill Supersock DK right now. Get it online or at most yarn stores!

I think thus far my favorite yarn that I've knitted with is either Knit Picks Swish Superwash (www.knitpicks.com), which is so soft and affordable and lovely to knit with (I made a scarf for a friend), or Berroco Comfort (www.yarnmarket.com, or I also get it from my LYS, Knitting in La Jolla), which I used to make the Ninjabun Toy from Mochimochiland. I love it because of the amazing value and even though it's a little splitty, the finished fabric definitely makes it up for me.

Being new to natural fiber yarns, and not being exposed to many nicer luxury fibers (lack of LYS's in a small town), I would have to say my favorite is Lion brand fishermans wool. Avaible at most craft stores I suppose. Its cheap, dyes excellently, and doesn't appear to pill. I make various winter weather items which are warm and wear nicely.

Heide said...

This may sound boring, but my old standby is the humble Cascade 220.

ThriftyKnitter said...

There are so many it's hard to choose but right now I guess my favorite is Berroco Jasper 100% Merino. I just finished the Gnomey Hat by Adrian Bizilia from Hello Yarn for my todddler in colorway #3810. It turned out so CUTE! CUTE! CUTE! Purchased the yarn at Tall Mouse Crafts here in So. Cal but have seen it cheaper at LYS.
